"Coyote Snow"
The North American Plains, California and Southwest native peoples mythology holds the Coyote as the chief animal over all, before the age of humanity. There is a rich oral history of the coyote as a creator, trickster, thief and major decision maker in the natural world. He is also credited for giving man fire and daylight.
Yellowstone National Park in the winter is a magical place. The warm geothermal waters of the park allow for some amazing wildlife viewing while the crowds of people are away. This coyote was working his way up the banks of the Yellowstone River closing in on a previous wolf kill of an elk. Always on the lookout for a quick meal the coyote had to be careful not to arouse suspicion from the wolf pack nearby.
