"Among Giants"

Part of the Nature Collection

Lodgepole pines name comes from the original use by native american people using them for building shelters. They played a large roll in the westward expansion of the rocky mountain regions in the U.S. The lodgepole has a paradoxical evolutionary system that requires fire for the cones to release their seeds relying on the cycle of disctruction leading to new life.

While on a winter trip to Colorado I was on a quiet hike through some freshly fallen snow in a sea of pines. This one little pine looked to be protected and cared for by the giant trees surrouding it. The scene was so quiet and peacful this tree seemed to whisper "look at me".
