Back from Molokai

August 18, 2008 10:53 by dlofgreen

I'm back from Molokai, Hawaii. Wow, what a great relaxing trip. I must say that Molokai is on of the best places to get a true view into what the old Hawaii must have been like. There is only two gas stations in the one town on the whole island. There isn't a resort on the island any more. There used to be two. One closed a while ago and the last just recently closed. So if you plan on going I would make sure your prepared. It's sort of like visiting Norton Kansas, only it's in the middle of the pacific surrounded by an amazing ocean and reef. As far as services there isn't much so plan accordingly. I think we packed 3 or 4 suitcases of food. Oh and the golf course is a hoot! Ever see the movie Tin Cup? Well, this could be it only in Hawaii instead of Texas.

The beaches are amazing. Most of the time we were the only ones on them. I felt like I was the only one on the island a lot of the time. Going to the top of the island via 4x4 was a real treat. I saw some Hawaiian cowboys roping cattle on the way up. The waterfalls were amazing too! I have a lot more photos of the trip that I am trying to get too so check back to see them when I get them posted. The one I have below is a shot of a monk seal that shared his beach with us. The realy cool thing was that this beach used to be the resort beach for the resort that closed down a while ago. So, just off to the right of the shot sits an old rundown and abandoned resort. Kind of weird.

I have also started a searchable database of my images on the site. I think it takes more time to keyword the photos than it did to code the search functionality. I know it does. Anyway, I will keep plugging away at key wording. If you are looking for a particular photo and don't see it in my stock lists just send me an email and I can let you know if I have what your looking for.
